Elevate Your Online Insights: Introducing Road Mobility - Your Real-Time Data Solution
As former analysts of gasoline demand, our traditional tools for analyzing market conditions during Covid proved to be unsuitable to market conditions at that time. Traditional analysis uses historical data to model future developments. Analytic tools like econometric models and time series analysis are totally inadequate to the major and unprecedented changes that Covid wrought on U.S. society. Mobility data, available at that time, proved to be highly useful. This data has since been discontinued. To keep the data current, we have created an up-to-date set of mobility data for the same six categories of driving.

Tracking Vehicle Miles by Motive: A Data-Driven View of Road Mobility.
Road Mobility is a community-based method for estimating both weekly and monthly distances traveled by cars in the U.S. By tapping into current online social media, Road Mobility is able to track five different motives for driving:
Retail and Recreation
Track distance driven for shopping and leisure activities.
Grocery and Pharmacy
Capture essential travel for groceries and medical needs.
Parks
Measure drives to parks and public green areas.
Transit
Account for first-mile/last-mile trips to transit stations.
Workplaces
Quantify routine travel between home and workplace.
Trucking
Vehicle Miles Traveled by Truck
Our estimates of VMT by end use category involves proprietary estimates of distance and time traveled per day and are not available elsewhere. When combined, their sum gives a close estimate of total vehicle miles traveled (VMT) as reported by the U.S. Department of Transportation. This is a significant finding because the published numbers are themselves estimates. In addition, our methodology allows us to analyze driving trends by end-use at a state/regional and national level

Gasoline Prices Forecasting
Road Mobility provides an up-to-date estimate of monthly VMT (Vehicle Miles Traveled), offering a high-frequency lens into American driving behavior. When combined with car fuel efficiency data, it becomes a powerful forecasting tool that traders, oil companies, and hedge funds can leverage to anticipate gasoline price trends. Our system specifically supports pricing insights at the three major U.S. gasoline pricing hubs—New York Harbor, Gulf Coast, and Los Angeles.

Market Analysis & Trading
Road Mobility offers the necessary inputs for forecasting U.S. gasoline demand and identifying price spread opportunities across all five U.S. PADD regions. It enables investors, analysts, and trading professionals to monitor changing competitive conditions across both regions and six different categories of driving. By aligning driving trends with quarterly company revenue patterns, our data also provides predictive power for earnings reports for publicly traded companies across a wide range of industries. This makes it an indispensable resource for equity traders, hedge funds, asset managers, and institutional traders.

Corporate Planning & Marketing
Road Mobility's detailed behavioral and geographic data enables corporate strategists and marketers to analyze evolving consumer patterns. By tracking vehicle usage across retail, transit, parks, and work-related travel, companies can refine their marketing strategies and expansion plans. The platform also supports benchmarking against competitors and optimizing location-based campaigns, helping organizations stay agile in fast-changing economic environments.

Real Estate Development
Road Mobility helps real estate developers and investors make data-driven decisions by evolving patterns in consumer mobility across five different categories of driving. By identifying high-traffic corridors, underserved areas, and evolving residential and commercial behavior in each of these five driving categories, it informs strategic choices on where, when, and what to build. Whether you're developing retail space, transit hubs, or residential communities, our data provides a real-time window into market demand and future growth potential.

Government & Media
Road Mobility's comprehensive analysis of driving patterns serves as a critical tool for federal, state, and local governments, as well as policy analysts and media outlets. It provides real-time insights into economic activity, consumer sentiment, and regional mobility behaviors. These metrics are valuable for transportation planning, public safety assessments, economic policy evaluations, and for media organizations reporting on macroeconomic and societal trends.
